Chicago QB Ken Mastrole completed a 15-yard pass to WR Kenny Christian with 55 seconds left in the game to give the Bears a 19-17 win over the Rams at the Edward Jones Dome.

For the second consecutive week the Rams lost by two points, after falling 28-26 in the preseason opener to the Tennessee Titans in the first week of the preseason.

The Rams had the lead for most of the fourth quarter after QB Marc Bulger completed a 26-yard scoring pass to TE Brandon Manunaleuna with 12:39 left in the fourth quarter.

Bulger played well in the contest, completing 13 of 19 passes for 188 yards and one touchdown in the contest. Bulger played the better part of the last three quarters because of a shoulder injury that QB Jamie Martin suffered in the Rams loss to Tennessee last Saturday night.

RB Trung Canidate was the Rams leading rusher, carrying the ball 21 times for 89 yards and he tied for the team lead with 50 receiving yards.

RB Lamar Gordon left the game with an ankle sprain in the second half, but rushed for 49 yards and led the team with four receptions for a team-tying high 50 yards.

The Rams got off to a slow start after receiving the opening kickoff. The team went three and out, with Rams C Andy McCollum fumbling the first snap of the game.

The Bears took a 7-0 lead on their first drive of the game. QB Jim Miller led Chicago on a seven-play, 66-yard drive that cluminated in a 26-yard scoring pass to WR Dez White with 10:07 remaining in the first quarter.

Bears K Paul Edinger extended the Bears lead to 10-0 with 4:58 left in the first quarter when he connected on a 42-yard field goal.

The Rams offense got rolling late in the first quarter. QB Kurt Warner completed his first two passes of the preseason for big gains (16 and 23 yards) to WR 'Big Play' Torry Holt. The Rams cut the lead to 10-7 when Warner completed his third pass of the contest to TE Ernie Conwell in the back of the endzone for a four-yard touchdown with 1:12 to go in the opening quarter. It capped an eight-play, 71-yard scoring drive that took 3:46 off the clock.

Bulger took over for Warner early in the second quarter. Bulger helped the Rams tie the game at 10-10 with 47 seconds left in the first half when he led the team on an 11-play, 54-yard drive that ended with a 36-yard field goal by K Jeff Wilkins.

Neither team scored in the third quarter.

The Rams finally took the lead early in the fourth quarter. Bulger helped illustrate a four-play, 56-yard drive and completed a 26-yard scoring pass to Manumaleuna to give St. Louis a 17-10 advantage.

On the ensuing kickoff Chicago WR Nate Jacquet returned the ball 97 yards to the St. Louis eight yard line before he was stopped by CB Ronald Rogers from behind. The Rams were able to hold the Bears to a field goal and the score remained 17-13.
